Former Champagne-Sipping Pop Star, Now Drinking Beer and Belching Out Country Music

On top of releasing her debut Country album, Jessica Simpson had to go above and beyond to promote her newfound “country” image.  Simpson is now endorsing a Texas-brewed beer.  Yes, that’s right, she is now the official spokeswoman for Stampede Light Plus, which is brewed by Dallas Stampede Brewing Co.  She will appear in ads and promotions, and is also now a 15 percent stakeholder of the brewer.  Stampede Light Plus is different than your traditional light beer.  The beer has additives that gear the product toward health-conscious consumers.  The Gossip Fix states, “Stampede Light bills itself as a beer for active people.  Good thing it is not for smart people or Jessica would have missed out on this one.”  You’re not lying.  Jessica, come on.  If your going to go country, which was a terrible idea, at least endorse a beer somebody has heard of.  As your publicist, I would have pitched you Shiner Bock or Ziegenbock.  These products are truly beers that “only Texans get.”  If Jessica really wanted to improve her already crappy country image, she should have chose a beer that Country fans enjoy and actually drink.  It seems as if she’s going about this whole process all wrong.  First, she releases an album in a genre she can’t even relate to, and now she obviously endorses the wrong beer to further her advancement in her fantasy career.  Again, as her publicist I would encourage her to stick to what she knows…starting with genres of music.  Secondly, don’t make a desperate attempt to improve your image.  Everybody can see right through that.  You can’t go from ditzy, glamorous, and materialistic to drinkin’ beer and singing country music.  Jessica Simpson is trying to force herself into a stereotype that she can’t even comprehend.  In the words of Country music legend Alan Jackson, “She’s gone country, look at them boots, she’s gone coun”…wait, no she hasn’t.

Curtis Grimes follows his heart…

Curtis Grimes is an up and coming Texas Country singer that is well on his way. He has played everywhere from the Erwin Center to Waterhole Saloon (hole in the wall dive bar). Curtis has accumulated a very large fan base here in Austin and surrounding areas, and plays because he truly loves the music. He’s a small town guy raised on solid family-oriented beliefs, and that’s what makes Curtis a publicist’s dream. He’s the type of musician that loves to give back no matter what the cause. On September 18th, 2008, Curtis played a benefit show put on by the University of Texas at Austin’s Kappa Delta and Sigma Chi. Curtis headlined for a battle of the bands competition that benefited abused and neglected children. Three days later, on September 21st, 2008, Curtis played on a team in a charity softball tournament put on by the University of Texas’ Alpha Phi that benefited the American Heart Association. Then, just last night, September 25th, 2008, Curtis played a show at The Blind Pig Pub on 6th Street that raised money and awareness for the Invisible Children program. The Invisible Children campaign is a benefit that helps children in need in Uganda. As Curtis’ publicist, I would encourage him to “keep on keepin’ on” if you will. There is no better way to promote ones self than playing benefits and charity events. He continues to get great exposure and gets the pleasure of knowing he’s helping out at the same time. I would make it known that Curtis plays these events for free on nights that are usually big nights for Curtis in terms of getting paid. Benefits and charity events also get a lot of media exposure. They promote the events in newspapers, magazines, television, radio, etc., which is the ultimate goal of getting your client out there. Curtis is an incredible guy with endless amounts of talent and a big heart. In closing, Curtis is just down right good. (Check out his MySpace page for upcoming shows and events) Curtis Grimes
